Selection Procedure/Scheme

The Selection Procedure/Scheme of the Exam will be as follows:

Written Exam: The written examination to be conducted by Union Public Service Commission will be held on 23th June 2017 and will comprise two papers. Paper-I will be held from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 Noon and Paper-II will be held from 02.00 p.m. to 05.00 p.m.

Paper-1: General Ability and Intelligence: 250 marks.

The questions in this paper will be of Objective (Multiple Answer) type in which the questions will be set in English as well as Hindi.

Paper-II: General Studies, Essay and Comprehension: 200 marks.

In this paper applicants will be allowed the option of writing the Essay Component in English or Hind, but the medium of Precis Writing, Comprehension Components and other communications/language skills will be English only.

Interview/Personality Test:

Applicants, who are declared qualified in the Medical Standards Test, will be called for interview / personal test to be conducted by UPSC.

Applicants who are declared medically unfit but allowed to appear before the “Review Medical Board” on their appeal by the Appellate Authority will be called for Interview/Personality Tests provisionally.

The Interview/Personality Test will carry 150 Marks.

Applicants who are short-listed for Interview/Personality Test, including those shortlisted for Interview / Personality Test provisionally will be issued a Detailed Application Form (DAF) in which among other things, they will be required to indicate their preference of Forces.

Final Selection/Merit: The merit list will be drawn on the basis of marks obtained by the applicants in the Written Exam and Interview/Personality Test.

How to Apply?

Applicants are required to apply online using the link www.upsconline.nic.in. The applicants are advised to submit only single application.

However, if due to any unavoidable situation, he/she submits another/multiple applications, then he/she must ensure that applications, with the higher RID is complete in all respects like applicants’ details, exam centre photograph, signature, fee etc.

The applicants who are submitting multiple applications should note that only the Commission shall entertain the application with higher RID (Registration ID) and fee paid against or RID shall not be adjusted against any other RID.

All applicants, whether already in Government Services, Govt. owned industrial undertaking or other similar organisations or in private employment should submit the applications direct to the Commission

While filling in his/her Online Application Form, the applicant should carefully decided about his/her choice for the Centre for the exam.

Applicants are required to apply online at www.upsconline.nic.in only. No other mode is allowed for submission of application.
