PSTET Exam 2016 Notification | PSTET 2016 Application

SCERT, Punjab has invited applications for Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET-2016) to be conducted on August 21st 2016 (Sunday) for those who want be eligible for appointment as a teacher for classes I to VIII.

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Educational Qualifications for becoming Teacher.

Qualifications for Class I to V (Primary Stage): The applicants must have passed their class 12th Exam or its equivalent with minimum 50% marks and passed or should be appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education; or Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002; or Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed); or Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)* or Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education.

Qualifications  for Classes VI-VIII (Elementary Stage): Applicants must have Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known); or Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.); or Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard; or Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed); or Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc. Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc. Ed; or Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education).

Structure of PSTET

Structure & Content of PSTET – All questions in PSTET test will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark, with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. There will be no negative marking.

There will be two papers of PSTET

(i) Paper I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V.

(ii) Paper II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.

Duration of Exam

In accordance with NCTE Circular No.76-4/ 2010/ NCTE/ Acad. dated 11.02.2011 regarding Guidelines for conduct of Teacher Eligibility Test, the time duration for Paper-I & Paper-II, has been mentioned as 01.30 hours in TET.

Paper I (for classes I to V); No. of MCQs 150.

Structure and Content (All Compulsory)

(i) Child Development and Pedagogy: 30 MCQs & 30 Marks

(ii) Language I: 30 MCQs & 30 Marks

(iii) Language II: 30 MCQs & 30 Marks

(iv) Mathematics: 30 MCQs & 30 Marks

(v) Environmental Studies: 30 MCQs & 30 Marks

Total: 150 MCQ and 150 Marks

The questions in the tests for Paper I will be based on the topics prescribed for classes: IV, but their difficulty standard, as well as linkages, could be up to the secondary stage.

Application Fees

In case the applicants wish to apply for either Paper I or Paper II, they are required to pay an application fee of Rs.600/- (Rs.300/- for SC/ ST Category/ Differently Abled applicants).

In case the applicants wish to apply for both Paper I or Paper II, they are required to pay an application fee of Rs.1200/- (Rs.600/- for SC/ ST Category/ Differently Abled applicants).

The fee can be paid through Challan or Credit/Debit Card. Ex-Servicemen Self-only applicants are exempted from payment of fees.

How to Apply?

Step-1: Online Registration

The eligible applicants shall apply on-line for the PSTET-I or PSTET-II or Both, at the website www.tetpunjab.com. It is suggested to applicants to carry recent testimonials, scanned photograph & signature with him/her while applying on-line, so that right information may be entered.

Applicants who are interested for both PSTET-I & PSTET-II, have no need to apply separately, only single registration is sufficient.

Step-2: Uploading of Photo & Signature.

It is mandatory for applicants to upload their recent colored passport size photograph and signature on the panel to complete the registration process successfully. Printing of confirmation page is not possible without uploading the photograph and signature.

The photograph and signature must be less than 1MB in size.

Important Dates

Online Registration Process Start: July 04th 2016 (10.00 AM) to July 21st 2016 (Upto 05:00 PM)

Deposit of Fee (in bank): July 05th 2016 (10.00 AM) to July 22nd 2016 (Upto Bank Time)

For General Category Rs.600/-, SC/ST category /DA Rs.300/-, for Ex-serviceman (Self) – NIL (for each test): July 05th 2016 (10:00 AM) to July 22nd 2016

Date of PSTET-I (Morning) and PSTET-II (Evening) Examination: August 21st 2016
