Post Matric Scholarship for Students belonging to Minorities Community 2017

The Govt. of India Ministry of Minority Affairs, New Delhi has been awarding Post Matric Scholarship for the students belonging to Minority Communities pursuing higher education from Class IX upto PhD in a Government or Private higher secondary school/college/University.

Scholarship Details

The category-wise scholarship breakup of Chandigarh, are as under:

No. of Scholarship for –

(i) Muslim – 92

(ii) Christian – 20

(iii) Sikh – 375

(iv) Buddhist – 03

(v) Jain – 07

(vi) Parsi – 02

Total No. of Scholarship: 499

Duration: Scholarship will be provided for the entire course. However, maintenance allowance will be given for a period not exceeding 10 months only in an academic year.

Post Matric Scholarship 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the annual income of whose parents/guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs.2.00 lakh.

Earmarking for Girl Students

30% of scholarship will be earmarked for girl students. In case sufficient number of eligible girl students are not available, then the balance earmarked scholarships may be awarded to eligible boy students

Selection Procedure

Unlike scholarship for SC/ST, there are a fixed number of scholarships for minorities is small and limited. Students from BPL families, having the lowest income shall be given preference in the ascending order

Post Matric Scholarship 2017 Application Procedure

The eligible candidates may apply through online on the website of common National Scholarship web portal of Govt. of India under URL

Applications are advised to take print-outs of the duly filed-in application forms, through National Scholarship web portal and to submit the same along with all supporting document (i.e. residence proof, annual fee receipt, last class pass certificate, Aadhaar No. bank account in the same of applicant, income proof, Minority Certificate/Affidavit) in their respective institute.

It will necessary for the applicants to provide Aadhaar number/Aadhaar Enrolment ID while applying for the scholarship.

Important Dates for (Fresh & Renewal Scholarship) 2017

Submission of Online Applications for Fresh Scholarship by Students: June 01st to August 31st 2017

Submission of Online Application for Renewal Scholarship by Students: June 01st – July 31st 2017

Release of Scholarship to the Students Account through DBT Mode: November 2017
