Government of Punjab has invited Online applications from students belonging to minority communities (Sikhs, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Parsis and Jains) pursuing technical or professional courses at graduate/post graduate level in the instructions in the Punjab State approved by an competent authority under Merit-cum-means Based Scholarship Scheme for 2017-18 sessions.

About: Merit cum means Scholarship for Minority Students provides financial support to meritorious students belonging to minority communities such as Muslim, Christain, Buddhist, Jains, Sikhs & Parsis to enable them to pursue professional and technical courses.

The scholarship will be awarded for pursuing technical/professional courses such as Engineering, Medical, Architecture, Management, Fashion Technology, Pharmacy, Hotel Management, MCA, BCA, CA, Law etc from recognized institution located in India.

Last Date for Submission of Online Applications for Fresh Students: August 31st 2017

Last Date for Submission of Online Applications for Renewal Students: July 31st 2017

Scholarship Amount Details

The Merit cum means Scholarship for Minority Students offers following type of financial assistance for hosteler and day scholar.

Sr. No. /Type of Financial Assistance

1- Maintenance Allowance (For 10 months only) = (a) Rate of hosteller – Rs.10000/-per annum (Rs.1000 p.m.) and (b) Rate for day scholar – Rs.5000/- per annum (Rs.500 pm).

2- Course Fees = (a) Rate of hosteller – Rs.20,000/- per annum or Actual whichever is less and (b) Rate for day scholar – Rs.20,000/- per annum or Actual whichever is less.

Total

(a) Rate of hosteller – Rs.30,000/-

(b) Rate for day scholar – Rs.25,000/-

Chandigarh Merit cum Means Based Scholarship 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria for merit-cum-means based scholarship for minority students:

Minority students who get admission in college or university for professional/technical courses on the basis of competitive examination are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Student must have score atleast 50% marks at HSC/Graduation level.

The annual income of the beneficiary from all sources should not exceed Rs.2.50 lacs.

The scholarship holder under this scheme will not be able to avail any other scholarship/financial assistance from any other source.

Other conditions for scholarship:

i) Financial assistance will be given to pursue graduate level or post graduate level technical and professional courses from a recognized institution.

ii) Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will depend on successful completion of the course during the preceding year.

Merit cum Means Based Scholarship 2017 Application Procedure

The eligible students can apply online on the website www.scholarships.gov.in. Students will forward their applications online to the institution and will take a print out of the same.

This print out along with all requisite documents (as prescribed in the print out) will be submitted to the concerned institution. Student will get a permanent ID, which he/she will retain/keep with him/her for any father correspondence etc.
