Ashoka University has invited application for Young India Fellowship for the class of 2018-19 sessions. The 01st round application process will begin on August 25th, 2017.

What is Young India Fellowship?

The Young India Fellowship (YIF) is a one-year multidisciplinary postgraduate diploma program in Liberal Studies.

The Young India Fellowship at Ashoka University is delivered in collaboration with University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering & Applied Sciences (SEAS), Carleton College, University of California Berkeley, University of Michigan, King’s College London, Trinity College Dublin, Sciences Po, Yale University, and Wellesley College.

Young India Fellowship Eligibility Criteria 2018

Young India Fellowship Program is open to all young men and women with:

A recognized undergraduate or postgraduate degree.

The student must be in the final year of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degree from the renowned University of India.

No more than 28 years of age on May 31st, 2018.

The Fellowship promotes diversity and applicants from all areas of specialization are encouraged to apply; while applicants who have been educated in a vernacular language as their medium of instruction are welcome, it is expected that they will be able to converse, read and write in English.

Young India Fellowship Selection Process 2018

There are various factors which are evaluated for the selection of the applicants like submitted application, telephonic interview, personal interview and also the General Ability test to assess the applicant’s verbal, written and analytical skills.

Each part of application and interview is necessary and the selection of the application for the fellowship program will be done in view of the mixture of both.

The four stages which are taken for the selection of the applicant.

  1. Applications Assessment: All applications are evaluated by the selection committee formed with faculty and executive members of the program.
  2. Telephonic Interview: Short-listed applicants will be interviewed on the telephone before being called for an in-person interview.
  3. On the-Spot Essay Writing: Applicants short-listed for Personal Interview are required to write a short essay before their interview; the essay topics are drawn from the applicant’s’ area of interest/expertise.
  4. In person Interview: Applicants short-listed for Personal Interview are interviewed in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bangalore. There could be several rounds of interview for an applicant on the same day, depending on the need for further assessment.

Young India Fellowship believes that talented and bright students may belong to any social or economic strata. To make it possible for all deserving applicants to avail this opportunity, Young India Fellowship offers ‘need-based’ scholarships that cover, in full or in part:

  1. Tuition expenses for lectures and workshops
  2. Boarding and lodging
  3. Cost of reading and case materials, library subscriptions and shared text books

Scholarship

  1. Merit Scholarship on tuition Rs 100000
  2. 25% Scholarship on tuition Rs 150,000
  3. 50% Scholarship on tuition Rs 300,000
  4. 75% Scholarship on tuition Rs 450,000
  5. Full-tuition Scholarship Rs 600,000
  6. Full Scholarship Rs 770,000

The interested and eligible applicants can apply online for Young India Fellowship; there they have to register themselves on the Young India Fellowship website www.youngindiafellowship.com.

Once the applicants is registered, an email will be sent to the applicant’s registered email ID.

Young India Fellowship Application Dates 2018

YIF has a rolling admission process and is split into two rounds. Each round accepts applications within a specified time-frame and selects Fellows from the pool of applications in that round.

Applications open for Round-1: August 25th, 2017

Last date to submit applications for Round-1: December 17th, 2017

Telephonic interviews: October 16th, 2017 – January 31st, 2018

In-person interviews for Round-1 applicants: December 11th, 2017 – March 15th, 2018

Final offers to Round-1 applicants: January 01st – March 25th, 2018

Final offers to waitlisted applicants: June 16th, 2018 – June 25th, 2018
