University of Calcutta has invited applications for admission to PhD Courses (RET 2017) in Ceramic Engineering, Petrochemicals & Petroleum Refinery Engineering, Pharmaceutical & Fine Chemical Tech. Programs for 2017 sessions.

Number of Seats

  • Ceramic Engineering – 02 seats
  • Petrochemicals & Petroleum Refinery Engineering – 02 seats
  • Pharmaceutical & Fine Chemical Tech. – 04 seats

Eligibility Criteria for PhD Admission 2017

Applicants must have a degree in Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) or Master of Science (M.Sc.)/Master of Technology (M.Tech) from a recognised board, university or institute.

Selection Procedure

The selection of the applicants will be done on the basis of their academic performance, entrance test and interview.

The students who have cleared UGC/CSIR (JRF) Exams/NET/SET/SLET/GATE or have obtained DST INSPIRE Fellowship/Teacher fellowship or have passed equivalent exams or passed the M.Phil./M.Tech./M.D/M.E./ M.Pharm. or equivalent exam shall not be required to appear at the PhD entrance test.


Reservation in admission shall strictly abide by the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2013.

How to Apply?

All applicants are requested to download the Application Form from the university website and submit the filled up Application Form, Attested copy of relevant mark sheets, along with the receipt of deposition of Application Fee of Rs.100/-, paid through a challan (obtainable from sales counter, Rajabazar Science College Campus, 92, APC Road, Kolkata-700009).

No TA/DA shall be paid to the applicant for appearing the Entrance Test or called for the Interview.

Last date for Submission of Application Form: January 06th 2017

Date of Entrance Test: January 13th 2017 (12:00 Noon)

Publication of List of successful Applicants: Display in the Notice Board

Date of Interview: January 19th 2017 (02.00 pm onwards)
