National Institute of Siddha (NIS) Chennai has invited applications for admission to Post Graduate MD Course for 2017 sessions.

Allotment of Seats of Branches

Branch-I: Maruthuvam – 08 Seats.

Branch-II: Gunapadam – 08 Seats.

Branch-III: Sirappu Maruthuvam – 08 (7+1 BIMSTEC).

Branch-IV: Kuzhandai Maruthuvam – 08 Seats.

Branch-V: Noi Naadal – 07 Seats.

Branch-VI: Nanju Noolum Maruthuva Neethi Noolum – 07 Seats.

The number of seats indicated above are provisional and are subject to change as per the recommendation of CCIM.

Allotment of Seats to Branches: Total: 46 (45 + 1 BIMSTEC).

Duration: 3 years (three years duration with exams at the end of each academic year).

MD Eligibility Criteria

A pass in BIM/BSMS Degree Examination of any Indian University with successful completion of Compulsory Rotatory Resident Internship (CRRI).

Applicants who have completed or will be completing CRRI before the date of entrance exam alone are eligible to apply for the M.D (Siddha) Degree course or;

A pass in the examination considered equivalent to the afore-mentioned Siddha degrees by the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai and the Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi.

The applicants should have registered their names either in State Council of Indian Medicine or Central Council of Indian Medicine.

NIS Chennai MD Admission 2017 Selection Procedure

Admission to the course will be made on a merit basis based on the marks obtained in the entrance examination. Total marks for entrance exam is 100.

Applicants securing 50% or above of the total marks for the General category, Special category (Locomotory disability) and the Reserved Category of OBC and 40% or above of the total marks for the reserved categories of SC/ST only will be eligible for counseling for M.D (Siddha) course.


a) Out of the total seats, one seat is allotted for a Foreign (BIMSTEC) student by rotation from any one of the existing Branches. This year 2017-18, it is allotted to Branch-IV Kuzhandhai Maruthuvam.

b) Out of the remaining seats, 15% are reserved for natural born SC applicants, 7.5% for natural born ST applicants and 27% for OBC applicants (In respect of OBC applicants, certificate of OBC status and exclusion from the creamy layer for the year 2017-18 should be produced).

c) 3% of the total seats (Special Category ) from the General Category is reserved for PH applicants with locomotory disabilities of lower limbs between 50% and 70% under the Disability act subject to the condition that the disability certificate issued by a duly constituted.

NIS Chennai MD Application Form 2017

Application forms can be downloaded from the website Demand Draft (DD), from any of the Nationalised Banks, for Rs.1250/- (Rupees one thousand two hundred and fifty only) in favor of “Director, National Institute of Siddha” payable at Chennai, drawn on or after should be enclosed.

For SC/ST applicants the cost of application is Rs.900/- (Rupees Nine hundred only) subject to production of a duly attested Xerox copy of SC/ST certificate, issued by the competent authority.

The filled in application along with enclosures should reach the Director, National Institute of Siddha, Tambaram Sanatorium, Chennai-600047, Tamil Nadu on or before October 13th, 2017 up to 5.00 p.m. Applications received after the due date and time will be summarily rejected.
