MTSE 2018 for students of Class VII to X of Maharashtra | Maharashtra Talent Search Examination

MTSE – Maharashtra Talent Search Exam is a talent search exam conducted by N. Wadia College, Pune. Maharashtra Talent Search Exam is conducted to search talented students and to equip the students for National Talent Search Exam (Class 10) and other competitive examinations in future. MTSE also aims to honour and encourage the selected students by awarding scholarships and prizes.

Reward: The number of students selected for the award of MTS scholarships at state/ district level depends on upon the number of students appearing for the exam from the entire state and the marks secured. The participants should know that the scholarships would be awarded by money order. The merit list for students appearing for MTSE 2018 will be rewarded at two levels:

State Level Merit List: Students appearing in the state level merit list will be awarded state scholarship of Rs.1000 each for one year.

District Level Merit List: Students who could not secure the place in the State level merit list but have made it in the District Level Merit List will be awarded to the District Scholarships of Rs. 400.

Special Price: Rs. 200/- each will be awarded for those students who could not be awarded State or District Scholarships but have secured marks more than particular marks.

Taluka Prizes: Rs. 150/- each for one year for those students who could not award State or District Scholarships but have done well in their Talukas.

Consolation Prizes: Besides these scholarships, some students will be awarded consolation prizes of Rs. 100/-.

Merit Prizes: Rs.5000/-, Rs. 3000/- & Rs.2000/- will be awarded to the first three students in the state level merit lists of rural and urban areas for each standard. A special prize of Rs. 500 will be awarded to a student standing first in each paper & every section of the written exam.

Other Medium Prize: Rs. 400 will be awarded to a certificate holder having maximum marks amongst Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati and Kannada medium students.

Certificates: The students securing 70 marks or more out of 200 in written exam will be awarded a certificate of merit.

Merit list at each level will have urban and rural components, Schools in all district and within the corporation, limits will be treated as urban while all schools at villages and taluka places are incorporated in rural areas.

MTSE 2018 Eligibility Criteria

All students of Maharashtra studying in std. VIII, IX and X in Govt. recognized schools. Appearing for MTSE has proved to be useful as a preparation for NTS Examination.

Majority of MTSE Scholars have succeeded in NTS Examination. However, appearing for MTSE is not a prerequisite for NTSE.

For appearing at MTSE std. IX, it is not compulsory to have appeared at MTSE std VIII.

For appearing at MTSE std. X, it is not compulsory to have appeared at MTSE std VIII & IX.

MTSE 2018 Selection Process

Applicants will receive their results at their respective schools by the end of June. The complete result of all the students appearing for the examination will also be available on the official website. Merit List of MTSE 2018 will be prepared at two levels:

MTSE 2018 Exam Pattern

There will be two written papers for all standards and will be conducted on the same day.

Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (100 each).

Medium: English / Marathi / Hindi / Gujarati / Urdu will be the medium of examination.

Duration: 180 minutes.

The Exam pattern will be same for all the classes.

Paper 1 (90 Minutes)

Mental Ability Test:  50 questions

Language: 50 questions

Paper 2 (90 Minutes)

Scholastic Aptitude Test

Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology): 40 Questions.

Maths (Algebra, Geometry, Arithmetic): 20 question.

Social Science (History, Geography, Civics, Economics): 40question.

Total: 200 question

Each question carries 1 mark

There will be no Interview for Class 8 & 9 and for Class 10 there will be an interview of 50 Marks.

MTSE 2018 Syllabus

Paper 1 For (Mental Ability Test) MAT: Slightly higher difficulty level than mental ability test of class 7th. The student should use the regular textbooks prescribed for the academic year. For languages, grammar and comprehension will be tested.

Paper 2 For (Scholastic Aptitude Test) SAT: The syllabus will be same as that of class 8,9 and 10.Many books of different publishers are available for MTS & NTS examinations. Students should use these books as per their choice.

MTSE 2018 Admit Card

Students will receive the Acknowledgement and MTSE 2018 Admit Card after they submit the MTSE Application Forms.

In the case of individual students, the acknowledgement card will be sent to their residential addresses while for students applying through schools or coordinators, the acknowledgement cards will be sent to their respective schools/ coordinators.

MTSE 2018 Application Form

Application forms can be obtained from Headmaster / Principal of the School. Head of the institutes is requested to demand the No. of Forms required by them for Std. VIII, IX & X on the school letter-head, which shall enable the centre to send the forms accordingly.

Fees for these forms can be sent to the centre at the time of submission of the filled forms. Please return the unused forms if any, along with the filled forms. The individual student can obtain application form by paying the fees in advance.

The student can obtain an application form from MTS Office by paying the fees of Rs.150 in advance by cash: The address of MTS office is – Maharashtra Talent Search Examination, N. Wadia College Campus,  Pune-411001.

By Post: Students can obtain MTSE 2018 Application Form by sending MO/ DD of Rs. 200/- in the name of -Hon. Director, MTS Examination, Pune and payable at Pune.

By Coordinators: There are a number of coordinators working in this project at District, Taluka and Bit levels. The application forms are also available with them. The Schools and Students may collect the forms from these coordinators and submit the completely filled application forms along with the Fees of Rs.150/-.

MTSE Answer Key: April 28th, 2018 (at 5:00 PM)

Sending letter of interview to applicants: 15th to 20th May 2018

Interview for selected applicants: May 25th to June 04th 2018
