The CAT or the Common Entrance test is an All India test that is conducted by the Institute of Management. This serves as an entrance exam for admission to Post graduate and fellow programs in management courses in various MBA institutes in India.

Before beginning your CAT preparation, there are few things that you need to keep in mind. The CAT score is used by all institutes along with the students’ academic background, performance in GD, PR and the extracurricular activities of the student to admit him to the MBA course. The CAT exam lasts for 170 minutes and has a total of 100 questions. 50 questions are based on logical reasoning and verbal ability while 50 questions are based on Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation. Math, English, and Science are given special focus.

The CAT examination is around the corner and it is important to gear up for the CAT preparation by now. Always analyze the subject that you are reading critically. Always justify yourself and make a note of all the small things that you are reading. Always read good books and novels, practice math and logical analysis for 1 hour every day. Try and play word games like Scrabble to improve your vocabulary and concentration as well.

Many first benchers cannot crack the CAT exam at the first exam. Over confidence can ruin your chances of success.
