IIAD Entrance Exam 2019 – IIAD Design Aptitude Test 2019
IIAD Design Aptitude Test – The Foundation Program is the first year of the undergraduate study at IIAD. On successful completion of the Foundation year, students progress into their chosen field of design discipline. Specifically, the foundation course acts as a bridge between high-school education and the niche programs of undergraduate art and design study – Communication Design, Interior Architecture and Design, and Fashion Design. The aim of the foundation course is to equip students with prerequisite core skill-sets necessary to succeed in an art and design degree program. These include drawing and visual skills, design process and development, material understanding, fundamentals of art and design, relevance of design in contemporary situations, communication skills and computer aided design. The course is structured to maximize the progressive development of the individual’s intellectual and creative potential both independently and within the dynamics of a group.

IIAD Admission 2019 Application Process
Each year IIAD (Indian Institute of Art and Design) accepts a select number of students to its undergraduate programs purely based on merit. It is therefore strongly recommended to begin the Application Process at an early stage to get the program of your choice.
IIAD 2019 Online Application
Applicants who wish to apply to the undergraduate programs can submit their Application Form along with necessary documents by registering themselves at IIAD’s Online Application Portal.

Alternatively, interested Applicants can visit the Campus, collect the Application Form and submit it along with necessary documents to the IIAD Admissions Office.
IIAD 2019 Application Fee
An Application Fee of INR 2,000 must be paid at the time of submission of the Application Form.
On successful completion of the Application Form Applicants shall receive an acknowledgement email from the Admissions Team with relevant information.
IIAD 2019 Entrance Exam Pattern
The IIAD Entrance Exam is conducted at various Test Centres, and comprises the following rounds.
IIAD Part A- Design Aptitude Test (iDAT)
A mandatory written test of 2.5 hrs duration, which tests the Applicant’s Logical Reasoning, Creative Thinking and Visual Aptitude.
Part B- iDAT Studio Simulation
A personal interaction session conducted in small groups, simulating a design studio experience. Applicants are expected to exhibit their creative thinking, teamwork, articulation and problem-solving abilities. The session is conducted in a studio environment of approximately 2 hours duration.

Transfer to IIAD (LATERAL ENTRY)
IIAD accepts applications for transfer to IIAD for the design program (in either Fashion Design, Communication Design or Interior Architecture & Design) from students who have successfully completed previous year(s) of their design degree/diploma program from a nationally or internationally recognized Design Institute.

IIAD 2019 Scholarships
Academic Session 2019 – 2020
IIAD offers Financial Aid in the form of Scholarships to meritorious students. Only those aspirants who have secured a minimum of 70% aggregate in their Class XII Examination are eligible to apply for the Scholarship at the time of submitting their completed Application Form to IIAD. Scholarships are awarded to Applicants based on their performance in the IIAD Entrance Examination comprising iDAT (Written Test) and Studio Simulation.
Please note that the Scholarship Form can be downloaded from our website and must be submitted along with the completed Application Form to be considered by the IIAD Admissions Team for review. Students awaiting their Class XII results can also submit the Scholarship Form along with the Application Form.

Question 1: Who is eligible for the program?
Answer: Applicants who have passed or are awaiting the results of the CBSE/ ISC/ IB (or any other equivalent board) 10+2 examination in any discipline can apply to the design courses at IIAD.

Question 3: What skills, background or technical experience do I need?
Answer: Applicants must have an interest in and a flair for art and design. Any additional knowledge or experience in drawing/sketching, model making and visual art forms would be an asset towards your admission.
Question 4: How do I apply?

Question 5: When should I start the application process?
Answer: The application process for the new admissions cycle begin in the month of September every year.
Question 6: What does the selection process involve?
Answer: Applicants will be evaluated through the IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT). This will be followed by Studio Simulation which includes individual Portfolio Assessment.
All Applicants must appear for the iDAT, Portfolio Assessment and Studio Simulation. These stages are mandatory for each Applicant and final results will be announced only thereafter.
iDAT is a 200 marks, two hours and thirty minutes test, mandatory for all applicants. The test consists of two sections: Section A on Logical Reasoning and Section B on Creative Thinking and Visual Ability. This test evaluates the Applicants aptitude for drawing, design ability, power of observation / representation, creativity, imagination, lateral thinking and writing skills. It further gauges the Applicant’s environmental awareness through visual and textual questioning.
A personally developed portfolio is desirable and this would be evaluated during the Studio Simulation. A portfolio need not match professional standards, but must reflect a Applicant’s interest and aptitude for design as well as a flair for visual expression and overall aesthetic sensibility. This is a personal interaction session conducted in a studio simulated environment to understand a Applicant’s interest in the discipline, evaluate their design aptitude, test their ability to innovate and assess their capacity to comprehend information and solve problems.

Question 7: Where will the iDAT and personal interviews take place?
Answer: The iDAT is conducted at major Entrance Test Centres across India (including New Delhi)
Note: IIAD reserves the right to cancel/add/change any entrance test centres(s) for administrative reasons.
Question 8: Do I also need to submit a printed copy of the application form, once I have submitted it online?
Answer: No, please submit an application only ONCE.
Question 9: How do I send in my original academic transcripts/mark sheets, other documents and photographs required as part of the application process?
Answer: IIAD does not require original documents at the time of application. While applying online, you may upload documents where relevant. In case of offline application, attach a photocopy of relevant documents.
If selected, you will have to show original documents at the time of admission.
Question 10: Can we view our completed Online Form?
Answer: Once you have clicked on the “final submit” button you will be able to view your completed form. On the top right hand corner of your completed form there is a download button available for you to download your completed form.
Question 11: Do you acknowledge the receipt of an Online application by mail?
Answer: Yes! You will receive a mail once your application has been submitted followed by a call from the admissions counsellor.
Question 12: How many students will be admitted in one academic year?
Answer: We are aiming for a total of 180 students, with 60 students in each course.

Answer: IIAD offers residential accommodation facility for outstation students on ‘FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVE-BASIS’. Question 20: What is the Eligibility criteria for International Students.
Answer: The Applicant should have completed 12 years of education from a recognised Board. For english proficiency the Applicant must have a minimum IELTS score of 6.
