DU Phd Admission 2018 – The Department of Plant Molecular Biology, University of Delhi South Campus (UDSC) has invited applications for full-time PhD Programme for 2018 session.
Seats Available: A total of 16 seats are available in the areas of (i) Functional Genomics (ii) Epigenomics (iii) Gene regulatory networks (iv) Molecular Basis of Plant Reproduction and yield (v) Post harvest biotechnology, (vi) Abiotic stress biology (Heat stress, role of small RNAs, signal transduction during stress) (vii) Plant Virology (viii) Database curation and Networking.
The applicant must have a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA score) in M.Sc / M.Phil / M.Tech in Plant Sciences/Biological Sciences / Biotechnology / Bioinformatics or other Allied Sciences from a recognized university/institute with an aptitude for Plant Molecular Biology; 5% relaxation will be permitted for OBC/SC/ST and Persons with disability.
Selection Procedure for DU Phd Admission
The applicants who have cleared NET-JRF with national level fellowship are exempted from departmental entrance test but need to apply for Ph.D program on the prescribed form.
JRF/NET qualified applicants with national level fellowship together with those found eligible after entrance test will have to appear for an interview, after which a final list of short-listed applicants will be announced; the list of short-listed applicants will be valid for 1year.
Reservation of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) to the prescribed extent shall apply in compliance with the rules notified by the University.
Supernumerary seats shall be available for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Foreign Nationals as per the University rules.
Common Entrance Test Pattern
The test would comprise 50 MCQs each carrying 04 marks with 25% negative marking for each wrong answer; 50% questions would cover Educational Research and 50% questions would cover Foundations of Education.

Applicants interested in PhD admission should submit duly filled online application form at http://admission.du.ac.in.
Applicants applying for more than one department are required to fill up separate forms for each department.
Admission of the applicants for PhD Program is based on their suitability to specific specializations and also subject to fulfilling all other conditions laid down in Ordinance VI-B of the University of Delhi.
There is no fee for the entrance test.
No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test and interview.
Applicant shall be asked to upload the following items: (i) Passport size photograph of the applicant (maximum size: 50kb; Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG); (ii) Scanned signature of the applicant (maximum size: 50kb; Formats: JPG/ JPEG/ PNG); (iii) Self attested copy of Identity Proof of the applicant (maximum size: 50kb, Formats JPG/ JPEG/ PNG). Identity proof can be any one of the following documents: Aadhar Card, Driving License, PAN card, Voter’s identity card, Passport or College identity card.
Registration Fee (non-refundable) for the written examination is the following:
- For SC/ST and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) – Rs.250/-
- For all other categories (Unreserved, OBC etc) – Rs.500/-
The registration fee has to be paid during online registration process through one of the available online payment options
