Health and Family Welfare (PME) Department, Tamil Nadu has invited applications for admission to the Post Basic Nursing Courses in Govt. Medical Colleges and various Self-Financing Colleges of Tamil Nadu for the session 2017-18.

Course Name: Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing

Duration of the Course: 2 years

Post Basic BSc Nursing Eligibility Criteria 2017

Applicant should be a citizen of India.

Nativity: Applicant should be a Native of Tamil Nadu.

Applicants who have studied XI Std. to XII standard in schools of Tamil Nadu and studied Diploma in Nursing Course for a period of 3 or 3 ½ years in Tamil Nadu need not enclose the “Nativity Certificate”.

Applicants who are native of Tamil Nadu but studied XI Std. to XII Std and Diploma in Nursing course for a period of 3 or 3½ years either partly or completely in schools situated outside Tamil Nadu should produce the “Nativity Certificate”.

Application without a proper Nativity Certificate will not be considered.

Age Limit: Applicants should not have completed 45 years as on 31st December 2017. Evidence should be produced.

Educational Qualification: Applicants belonging to all categories should have passed Diploma in Nursing Examination with a pass in the Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or Intermediate or 10 + 2 or an equivalent exam recognized by the University.

Should have obtained a certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery and registered as R.N.R.M. with the State Nurses Registration Council.

Service applicants should send their application through the Head of the Medical College Hospital /Institution in which they are presently working.

Service applicants serving in Tamil Nadu Medical Service on a regular basis should have completed two years of continuous regular service as on May 31st, 2017.

Applicants who are serving purely under temporary category in Tamil Nadu Medical Service will be considered for selection under open quota as non-service applicants only.

Service applicants taking allotment in Self-financing colleges will not be paid salary and they have to avail leave to which they are eligible for the period of study on their own after obtaining prior permission from their Head of the Department concerned.

The admission to Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Course is open to both men and women in the ratio of 1: 9 (10% for men and 90% for women).

Seats Availability for Govt. of Tamil Nadu

  1. Madras Medical College, Chennai – (Category-I Service): 30 Seats; (Category-II Private): 10 Seats; Total: 40 Seats.
  2. Govt Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College, Salem – (Category-I Service): 40 Seats; (Category-II Private): 10 Seats; Total: 50 Seats.

Total: 90 Seats (Category-I Service – 70 Seats); (Category-II Private – 20 Seats).

Post Basic BSc Nursing Selection Process

The selection will be made on merit basis and by counseling applying the Rule of reservation / Roster method followed by the Govt of Tamil Nadu whichever is applicable.

Applications can only be downloaded from the websites www.tnhealth.org or www.tnmedicalselection.org and the filled in application along with necessary enclosures should be sent in a large sized cover measuring 38 cm X 28 cm superscribed “Application for Post Basic B.Sc. (Nursing) Course 2017-18 Session” addressed to the Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai -10 before the last date along with a Demand Draft for Rs.350/- which is non-refundable towards the cost of application form drawn in favor of “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai-10” and payable at Chennai.

The name of the applicant and the name of the course should be written on the reverse of the Demand Draft; the template with requisite details available for download should be printed and pasted on the cover.

SC/SCA & ST applicant who have been native of Tamil Nadu are exempted from payment of the cost of application form.

Eligible Applicants alone can download their call letter from the websites Website www.tnhealth.org / www.tnmedicalselection.org by entering their AR No allotted by the Selection Committee and their Date of Birth and attend the counseling as per the date and time mentioned in the counseling schedule which will also be available on the websites.
