Lateral Entry Admission for B.E B.Tech and B.Pharma Programs 2017

WBJEE JELET 2017, the Joint Entrance Examination for the Lateral Entry to 2nd year of study in the four year for Courses (3rd Semester) of Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Technology and Pharmacy (Except Architecture) for 2017 sessions.

Eligibility Criteria

The Applicant (male/ female/ transgender) must be a citizen of India.

For Engineering & Technology: a) Applicants should have passed Diploma examination from an AICTE approved institution with at least 45% marks (40% in case of applicants belonging to reserved category).

b) Applicants should have Passed B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC with at least 45% marks (40% in case of applicants belonging to reserved category) and pass XII standard with Mathematics as a subject.

c) Provided that in case of students belonging to B.Sc. stream shall have to clear the subjects of Engineering. Graphics/Engineering Drawing & Engineering Mechanics of the 1st year Engineering Program along with the second year subjects.

d) Provided further that the students belonging to B.Sc. stream shall be considered only after filling the supernumerary seats in this category with students belonging to the Diploma Stream.

e) Provided further that students, who have passed Diploma in Engineering and Technology from an AICTE approved institution or B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC shall also be eligible.

For Pharmacy: Applicants should have passed Diploma course in Pharmacy from an AICTE approved Institution, with at least 45% marks (40% in case of applicants belonging to reserved category) shall be eligible.

Students who have completed Diploma course in Pharmacy having above mentioned eligibility criteria shall be eligible for admission to the 1st year Pharmacy Degree Course subject to vacancies in the 1st year class in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted.

Applicants who have passed the Prefinal semesters/part and due to appear in the final semester (6th)/part exam 2016 of the Diploma Courses in Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy or due to appear in the final exam of Degree in Science (B.Sc.) will also be allowed to appear in the JELET-2017 Exam.

NB: Diploma and B.Sc. Degree holder as mentioned above will have to qualify the Joint Entrance Lateral Entry (JELET-2017) conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board to become eligible for admission under Lateral Entry Scheme.

B.Sc. Degree holders are not eligible for admission in B. Pharm. Course.

Age Limit: There is no age restriction for diploma holders of Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy; for B.Sc. applicants, upper age limit is 27 years as on 31st December 2017

Exam Pattern

The Joint Entrance Exam (Lateral Entry) 2017 (JELET 2017) will be held on June 11th 2017.

The said examination will be of two-hour duration.

All questions will be of Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type (four options including single correct answer). Applicant will be required to answer 100 (hundred) questions, each carrying 1 (one) mark. For each incorrect response (answer) 1/4 mark will be deducted. All questions will have to be answered on specially designed machine gradable OMR answer sheets.

Answers are to be marked using Black/ Blue Ball Pen. There will be one common question paper for all branches of Engineering/Technology and separate question papers for (i) Pharmacy branch (ii) Degree in Science (B.Sc.) applicants.

The questions will be in English language only. Overwriting on the OMR Sheet or more than one answers for a question will lead to cancellation of the particular answer of the question.

How to Apply?

Application has to be filled up online at the portal www.wbjeeb.in from March 14th 2017.

Applicant needs to visit the portal and follow the links <EXAMINATION> – <JELET> – <ONLINE APPLICATION>. The form is interactive in nature. There are four steps in application form submission as follows:

Step-1 Registration: Applicant has to input name, date of birth, gender, e-mail id and mobile number and password. Applicant must take utmost care to give these inputs. If mistakes are committed there is no chance of correction. The given mobile number and e-mail id will be used for all further communication.

At the end of this step the applicant may opt to logout or continue to next step. For further log in, applicant has to use his/her application number, date of birth and password.

Step-2 Application Form: In this step the applicant has to enter his/her personal and academic information and also two choices of examination centre. The fields mark with (*) are mandatory fields, i.e. mandatory to be filled in.

Step-3 Image Upload: At this step the applicant has to upload scanned copies of his/her photograph, signature, LTI and Admit Card/Mark sheet of 10th standard as age proof.

Step-4 Payment and Confirmation: The applicant will be directed to the page of fee payment and will have following two options:

a) Payment by Debit/Credit Card: Applicant has to select Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking option to pay the fee of Rs.500/- + service charges and follow the instruction to complete the payment process. After successful payment, applicant will be able to print the “Confirmation Page”.

b) Payment by Allahabad Bank Challan: Applicant has to select ‘Offline payment mode’ to deposit the fee. As soon as he/she selects the option, ‘e-challan’ will be generated containing specific details of the applicant along with amount Rs.500 + bank’s service charges to be paid.

The applicant has to take a printout of the same and logout. He/she has to take it to any branch of Allahabad Bank for making payment.

Admit Card

Admit cards will be generated on the notified date for the student to download and take a print.

Applicant has to carry to the examination centre a printed hard copy of the admit card along with a photograph identical with the one uploaded earlier.

Applicants must ensure that the admit card is not mutilated/distorted/soiled even by accident. Applicants with such mutilated/distorted/soiled admit cards will not be allowed to appear in JELET-2017.

Zone Of Examination: The exam will be held simultaneously at the following Zones/areas – Bardhaman, Durgapur, Paschim Medinipur, Purbo Medinipur, Siliguri, Malda, Kolkata-North, Kolkata-South, Howrah, Hooghly, Murshidabad And Agartala.
