B.Ed Programs 2017 at University of Calcutta, Kolkata – Eligibility, Application Form, Dates and more

University of Calcutta, Kolkata has invited applications for admission to 2 years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Program for 2017 sessions.

The following Method Subjects (total no. of seats is mentioned in the bracket) are offered from this Dept., University of Calcutta, duly approved by the University authority.

Total No. of Seats: 50 (Deputed – 25 & Fresher – 25)

Eligibility Criteria

The B.Ed Course will follow the norms set by NCTE, the State Govt. & University of Calcutta.

Applicants with at least 50% marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and/or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences/Humanities/Social Sci., Bachelors in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science & Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent there to be eligible for admission.

Requirement of 50% (fifty) marks shall not apply to the persons appointed as teachers prior to the commencement of the NCTE, (Regulations, Norms & Procedure) Second Amendment Regulations, 2010 as laid down at para 8 (i) of the aforesaid Gazette.

Reservation of Seats

Reservation of seats for B.Ed admission (only for fresher category): (i) Calcutta University-80% (ii) Other University (OU)-20%.

Reservation of Seats for SC/ST & PwD will be as follows: (i) SC-22% (ii) Scheduled Tribe-06% and (iii) PWD-3% (From all categories).

Age Limit

For Fresher Students (General Category) – 40 years (as on June 30th 2017).

For Deputed Students (General Category) – No age bar.

Age limit is relaxable for maximum 5 (five) years for students belonging to SC/ST.

Selection Methodology

Teachers teaching in classes IX to XII only can apply as Deputed Teacher.

Selection of Deputed Teacher of Higher Sec. School/Secondary School/Madrasah affiliated to WBBSE/ WBBME will be made on the basis of the period of approved services in the School/ Madrasah.

In case of both the Period of Service and Academic Qualifications are equal, selection will be made on the basis of percentage of marks obtained by the applicants in different exams in their career and applicants having higher grade marks will be selected (Grade Marks calculation will be done as meant for fresher applicants).

Applications complete in all respects along with self-attested copies of certificates and testimonials must be submitted to the Office of the Secretary, UCAC, at Shahid Kshudiram Sikshaprangan, 1, Reformatory Street, (Ground Floor), Kolkata-700027 on or before May 26th 2016 upto 03.00 pm on all working days.

Provisional merit list will be published on the NB U.C. Alipore Campus May 31st 2017

Provisional merit list short listed applicants will be published June 01st 2017

Submission of printed copy of Application Form, e-receipt of payment etc. at Calcutta University May 18th 2017 to May 26th 2017 (12.00 noon to 03.00 pm)

Date of admission and counselling for Deputed and Fresher’s applicants on June 13th 2017
