M.Phil Admission 2018 | Calcutta University announces M.Phil Courses Admission 2018

The University of Calcutta has invited applications for admission to 2 years M.Phil Course for 2018 academic session.

M.Phil Course: Bengali, Commerce, Sanskrit, Pali, Hindi, English, Urdu, Sociology, Philosophy, History, Political Science, Ancient Indian History and Culture, South and South East Asian Studies, Education, Women Studies and Library & Information Science (Self-Financed).

Number of Seats: Bengali – 20, Sanskrit – 40, Pali – 10, Hindi – 15, Commerce – 15, Urdu – 10, Sociology – 15, Philosophy – 20, History – 20, Pol. Sc. – 20, Ancient Indian History & Culture – 15, South and South-East Asian Studies – 10, Education – 15, Women Studies – 15 and Library & Information Science – 15, English – 20.

M.Phil Eligibility 2018

Any applicant who has passed the MA/M.Sc/M.Com or equivalent exam of this university with 55 percent marks in aggregate (SC / ST with 50 percent marks) or with 60 percent marks in aggregate of any other recognized University.

Students who are taking MA / M.Sc / M.Com Part-II Exam and or Final Semester Exam in the above-mentioned subjects may also apply provisionally and sit for the admission test but their Final admission would depend on passing the examination obtained the required marks mentioned above.

Applicants who have qualified NET / SET or any equivalent national level exam are exempted from the admission test, but not from the interview.

Students who have done MA in South and South-East Asian Studies and any Social Science subjects can apply for admission to M.Phil in South and South-East Asian Studies.

Applicants of any stream of MA, M.Sc., M.Com and or other PG degrees from any recognized university are eligible to apply for the course of Women’s Studies.

University of Calcutta M.Phil Application Form

The prescribed Application Form for Admission to M.Phil Courses for the session 2018 and the Information Brochure can be downloaded from the official website of Calcutta University www.caluniv.ac.in.

Downloaded application forms completed in all respects along with the proof of payment of Rs.500/- for General and Rs.250/ for SC / ST / PWD category by SBI Challan will be received in the office of the concerned Faculty.

Mode of Payment of Application for Offline System: Application fee may be deposited with the SBI Calcutta University Branch, College St. or with any other SBI Branch by paying the required additional Bank Transaction fee.

The Fees would be paid to C.U. Current A/c No.33952775663 (with SBI, CU Br.) under head “Calcutta University P.G. offline application”.

Counterpart of the Slip in original after Cash deposition or Demand Draft (DD) in favour of Calcutta University payable at Kolkata is to be attached to the application form.

Reservation

Reservation for SC/ST/OBC-A, OBC-B & Differently-Abled applicant will be made as per University/Govt. rules.

a) For SC/ST‐ 22 percent and 6 percent respectively of the total seats of the concerned subject.

NB: SC/ST applicants should submit SC/ST certificate issued as per the West Bengal SC/ST (identification) Act 1994.

b) For Persons with Disability: reservation of 3 percent seats for PWD within each respective category (SC/ST, OBC‐A, OBC‐B/unreserved of the concerned subject.

NB: Persons with disability applicants having the degree of 40 percent and above should submit a certificate issued by the relevant Govt. Hospital.

c) For OBCA/OBCB: Implementation of reservation shall take effect from the Academic Session 2018 as per W.B. Govt. Rules in a phase‐wise manner as given in relevant G.O.s and decided by the C.U. Syndicate.

Course Fees: Rs.4000/- to be paid in the case by the selected applicants at the time of admission (except Library & Information Science).

Course Fees for Library & Information Science

a) Rs.625/- per month for no sponsored students.

b) Rs.875/- per month for sponsored Indian students (mode of payment as per rule for a and b).

c) US $ 1000/- or its equivalent for Foreign of NRI students (to be paid at the time of admission); (Admission fee – Rs.500/-, Library fees Rs.200/- extra).

Mode of payment of Course Fee has been notified to the Notice Board of the office, Department of Lib. & Inf. Science.

Submission of Forms: Completed Application forms except for Education, Sociology, Library & Information Science and Women Studies will be received by the office of the Secretary, U.C.A.C, College Street campus, Asutosh Building, Ground floor, Room No.3G between 11.00 am and 03.00 pm on all working days mentioned above.

Forms for Education, Sociology and Women’s Studies are to be submitted at the Alipur Campus, 1, Reformatory Street, Kolkata-700027.
