Tamil Nadu MBBS BDS Courses Admission 2016

Tamil Nadu Medical Education has invited applications for admission to MBBS and BDS Degree Courses for 2016 sessions.

Duration of the Courses

MBBS: 5½ years including one year Compulsory Rotatory Resident Internship.

BDS: 5years including one year Compulsory Rotatory Resident Internship.

Eligibility Criteria for MBBS BDS Admission 2016

Applicant should be a Citizen of India.

Overseas Citizens of India who are registered under secion 7A of the Citizenship Act, 1955 (Central Act 57 of 1955) are eligible to apply for MBBS/BDS courses subject to the production of proof of such registration.

Nativity:

  1. Applicant should be a Native of Tamil Nadu.
  2. Applicants who have studied from VIII to XII standards in schools in Tamilnadu need not enclose the “Nativity Certificate”.
  3. Applicants who are native of TamilNadu but studied from VIII to XII Std either partly or completely in schools situated outside Tamil Nadu should produce the “Nativity Certificate”.

Age limit: Applicants must have completed the age of Seventeen years on or before 31st December 2016.

Educational Qualifications

Applicants must have passed in all the subjects of the qualifying examination of the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (Academic) conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board /any other equivalent Board in one and the same attempt (Single Sitting) in the following group of subjects with the minimum eligible marks:

  1. Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology; (or)
  2. Physics, Chemistry, Biology with any other subject.

Minimum Eligibility Marks for MBBS Admission

i) Other Communities: (a) A minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together; (b) A minimum of 60% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry; (c) Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 140 out of 200 marks.

ii) Backward Class and Backward Class Muslim: (a) A minimum of 60% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together; (b) A minimum of 60% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry; (c) Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 130 out of 200 marks.

iii) Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities: (a) A minimum of 55% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together; (b) A minimum of 55% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry; (c) Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 120 out of 200 marks.

iv) SC/ST-Arunthathiyar, Scheduled Tribes: (a) A minimum of 40% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology taken together; (b) A minimum of 40% marks in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry; (c) Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks in (a) and the percentage of marks in (b) should not be less than 80 out of 200 marks.

v) The min. marks for the Applicants under Orthopaedically Physically Disabled Category (Locomotory disability of Lower Limbs alone) is as follows: a) OC/BC/BCM/MBC/DNC – 45% of marks in the above prescribed subjects taken together in the qualifying exam; b) SC/SCA/ST- 40% of marks in above prescribed subjects taken together in the qualifying exam.

Minimum Eligibility Marks for BDS Admission

Applicants (OC/BC/ BCM/MBC/DC) should have obtained not less than 50% of the aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Botany and Zoology taken together at the qualifying exam.

SC/ST – Arunthathiyar and ST the aggregate marks required for admission shall be 40%.

The minimum marks for the Applicants under Orthopedically Physically Disabled Category – (Locomotory disability of Lower Limbs alone) is as follows:

  1. OC/BC/BCM/MBC/DNC – 45% of marks in the above prescribed subjects taken together in the qualifying exam.
  2. SC/SCA/ST should have obtained a minimum of 40% of marks in above prescribed subjects taken together in the qualifying exam.

Application Modality for Tamil Nadu MBBS BDS Admission 2016

Applications can be downloaded from the websites 1) tnhealth.org 2) tn.gov.in and the filled application along with necessary enclosures and 3 self addressed envelopes measuring 24 x 12 cms and sent in a large sized cover measuring 38 cm X 28 cm superscribed Application for MBBS / BDS Course 2016 Session to the Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai-10 before the last date along with a Demand Draft (DD) for Rs.500 /- towards the cost of application form drawn in favour of “The Secretary, Selection Committee” and payable at Chennai.

The name of the Applicant and the name of the course (MBBS / BDS) should be written on the reverse of the Demand Draft (DD).

Eligible applicants can download their call letters from the websites www.tnhealth.org and www.tn.gov.in by entering their AR No allotted by the Selection Committee and their Date of Birth and attend the counseling as per the date and time mentioned in the counselling schedule which will also be available on the websites.

Applicants are requested to paste their photographs on the call letters which is to be attested by a Gazetted Officer (The photograph must be a copy of the same one pasted on the Application).

If the Original certificates are not produced in person directly at the Sports Counter in Selection Committee, the Applicants will not be considered under that category without any intimation to the Applicant. Sending Xerox copy of sports evidence by post/courier will not be accepted under any circumstances.

Expected Date for Declaration of Merit: June 17th 2016

Allotment of Seats by Personal Appearance-I Phase: June 20th 2016 Special Category

Others: June 21st to June 25th 2016

Allotment of Seats by Personal Appearance-II Phase: July 18th to July 21st 2016
