Panjab University, Chandigarh has invited applications for admission to M.Ed Course (Regular and Distance Education) programs for 2017-18 sessions.

Number of Seats in M.Ed Course

Panjab University offers 150 seats in the M.Ed course which are equal.

All the applicants who have valid score are offered admissions for every academic year in the following colleges that are located across the state Panjab:

Dept of Education, P.U., Chandigarh – Total: 150 seats.

  • M.Ed General (50 seats)
  • M.Ed Guidance and counseling (50 seats)
  • M.Ed Educational Technology (50 seats)

M.Ed Eligibility Criteria 2017

For Admission to M.Ed. (Regular): a) Degree in Bachelor of Education/equivalent degree with 50% marks from a recognized University by AIU; or B.A.B.Ed., B.Sc. B.Ed. OR B.El.Ed; or D.El.Ed. with an undergraduate degree with 50% marks in each (5% concession is admissible in eligibility marks to SC/ST/BC/PwD applicants).

b) For Admission to M.Ed. Special Education (MR).

Eligibility criteria for M.Ed. Spl. Edu. – MR as per RCI norms (Curriculum Framework, Norms, and Guidelines, May-2015); the admission for the degree of M.Ed. Spl.Ed. (MR) degree shall be open to:

 (a) The applicant who has successfully passed B.Ed Spl.Ed. with minimum 50% marks in respective disability area from a recognized university or any other degree considered equivalent to B.Ed Spl. Ed. from an affiliating university and/ or teaching department under any University recognized by U.G.C. with RCI registration.

b) An applicant who has successfully passed the B.Ed. General course and has successfully completed Diploma in Education Special Education in respective disability area recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India with minimum 50 percent marks in each course.

c) Applicant having passed PG Diploma4 (Till Academic session 2014-15) d) An applicant with B.Ed. in particular specialization may be allowed for M.Ed. cross disability/ multi-category (as and when offered) but the reverse is not allowed. B.Ed. with multi-category should not be admitted for specialization in a single disability at the M.Ed. level, however; as part of CBCS, these can be admitted to B.Ed. Spl. Edu. Area C Courses and complete the Specialization Courses to qualify for a particular disability.

On completion of Area C, these can be admitted to the M.Ed. Spl.Ed in a specific disability. d) A student with B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. B.Ed.Spl. Ed. (4 years Integrated).

M.Ed Admission Reservation of Seats

Admission in all categories shall be made subject to fulfillment of the eligibility conditions and in accordance with the provisions contained in the Handbook of Information 2017

a) Seats: General and Reserved

1) Generally, 55.5% of the seats in each course shall be treated as belonging to the General Category

2) 44.5% seats shall be treated as belonging to the Reserved Category, as per details are given below:

 (i) 15% of applicants belonging to the SC

 (ii) 7.5% of applicants belonging to the ST

 (iii) 5% for applicants belonging to the BC

 (iv) 3% seats will be horizontally reserved for persons or class of persons with disability* out of which 1% each shall be reserved for persons

M.Ed Application Fees Details

M.Ed. (Regular) & M.Ed. Special Education (MR)

Applicants are to deposit Rs.4000/- on the spot if admitted to M.Ed. Program. The balance fee will have to be paid at the Institution allotted within 48 hours. The fee will be deposited in cash at respective Cash Counters at the venue of counseling at Panjab University, Chandigarh, after getting the admission slip from the ‘Admission Committee’ at the time of counseling.

The online Application Form for Entrance Exam 2017 is available on Panjab University Website www.medadmissions.puchd.ac.in.

Aspiring applicants can apply for PU M.Ed Entrance Exam Online Only by following the below-given steps:

Steps to follow:

Read the Prospectus carefully. Register Online (last date for registration August 15th, 2017 (Tuesday)).

Take print-out of bank slip (bank slip can also be downloaded from the account using login id and password).

Deposit fee using website generated bank slip at any SBI branch, minimum one day after printing of bank slip. [last date for submission of fee in any SBI branch: August 17th, 2017 (Thursday).

Login again after 24 Hrs. of depositing fee and upload scanned a photograph, signature, fill other important information. Complete each section ( Profile, Academic Qualification, Weightages, Admission Pool/Quota) carefully and lock each section. (Once you lock the section, you will not be allowed to change information in that section). [last date for completion of the form: August 18th, 2017 (Friday)].

Take print out of the duly filled Online Admission Form and submit/send it along with the required documents to Coordinator M.Ed. Admissions – 2017, Room No. 6, Department of Education, Arts Block No. II, Panjab University, Sector 14, Chandigarh [last date for submission of hard copy of admission form & documents: August 21st, 2017 (till 04:00 p.m.).

SC/ST/PwD Category – Rs. 750/-
