M.Phil Programs (13 seats in total; Disciplines): Political Science-02, Education-03, Assamese-05, English-01, Sociology-01 and Social Work-01.
PhD Programs (21 seats in total; Disciplines): Management-04, Political Science-05, Education-04, Assamese-05, English-01 and Sociology-02.
Eligibility Criteria for KKHSOU Guwahati Admission 2017
For PhD: Master’s degree holders fulfilling the criteria stipulated under clause 1 (1.1 and 1.2) as stated above. Applicants who have cleared the M.Phil course-work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and successfully completing the M.Phil Degree shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to the PhD degree in KKHSOU subject to the conditions laid by the Doctoral Research Committee.
A relaxation of 5% marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer/ differently-abled) and other categories of applicants as per the decision of UGC from time to time.
For M.Phil: Applicant for admission to the M.Phil programme shall have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country.
Eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedure.
For PhD Programme: Admission to the PhD Programme will be based on performance in the written test and viva. Shortlisted applicants of the written test will have to make a presentation of their synopsis of a research proposal (format to be notified later) before a panel of experts.
For M.Phil Programme: Admission to the M.Phil Programme of the university will be based on the applicant’s performance in the written test.

Monthly fee: Rs 1000
Thesis Submission fee: Rs 5000
Viva voce examination fee: Rs 5000
Fee Structure for M.Phil Programme:
Admission Fee: Rs 10,000
Monthly Fee: Rs 500
Viva voce examination fee: Rs 5000

Duly filled in PhD/ M.Phil Admission Application Form along with a Bank Draft/Bank Challan of Rs.1000/- for PhD and Rs.500/- for M.Phil drawn in favour of “KKHSOU Study Centre”, payable at SBI, Beltola Branch, Guwahati (Code: 4419) are to be sent by post or may be submitted in person to the following address “to the Dean (Academic), Krishna KantaHandiqui State Open University, Head Office: Patgaon, Rani-gate, Guwahati 781017”.
